FAQ

Where are your ranks?

At Hail Mary Football, we do not believe in traditional (descending-order) numerical ranks.  How can we tell you what type of WR3 you need unless we know who your WR1 and WR2 are?  If you've got Michael Thomas and Jarvis Landry as your first two wide receivers, then we would probably tell you to make an upside selection like Will Fuller or Robby Anderson, because your first two guys are so steady. But if your first two wide receivers are volatile guys like Tyreek Hill and Amari Cooper, the recommendation would likely be for someone more reliable to give you a safe weekly floor, like Julian Edelman or Tyler Boyd.

A traditional rankings list does not take that into account.  On this site, we prefer to group players into categories.  All players in the category will have something in common.  It will help you diversify your roster so that you don't have too many risk plays, or too many floor plays, or too many rookies. This should help you construct an optimal lineup.  Within each category, though, we do list each player in descending order of preference.

For those that are beholden to rankings, we do publish rankings article in the preseason, that are updated once before the regular season starts. We do not offer weekly rankings.

What makes you qualified to offer fantasy advice?

Well, I am a lawyer, so I do give advice for a living.  But usually, I charge for it! (No? Not funny? Oh well, I tried.)

What qualifies me to offer fantasy advice is over two decades of experience, numerous titles across different formats, thousands of hours of research, and the failure to adopt "adult" hobbies that I could otherwise spend my time on.

In other words, I eat, sleep, and breathe fantasy football.  Year round. It's an obsession.  I constantly strive to get better at it, and I want to share my knowledge with each of you.

What is a JAG?

"Just Another Guy."  This is a term used to describe NFL players who are nothing special. You will see it used frequently in our categorical tiers.

How can I support the site?

Please share our links on Facebook, LinkedIn, and Twitter.  The more people know about us, the more viable we will be.
